Thrive Causemetics Filtered Effects Soft Focus HD Setting Powder | Review

Hi Guys,

I recently finished my jar of this setting powder, and the fact that I actually finished a loose setting powder says a lot about how good it is. I havent finished a loose setting powder in YEARS! And I literally have a whole drawer of setting powders!

Thrive Causemetics released their Filtered Effects Soft Focus HD Setting Powder in 2018 with the launch of their Buildable Blur CC Cream, and I instantly fell in love.

This powder is dubbed the “instagram filter” setting powder and is filled with skin-loving ingredients such as Hyaluronic Acid, Vitamin C and Green Tea. It’s a weightless powder that gives a matte finish, but never looks flat, cakey or dry.

We developed this weightless powder to blur pores + fines lines while setting your makeup for all-day wear.

This is HANDS DOWN the BEST loose setting powder I have EVER tried. And at this point, I have tried them all (Hourglass, Laura Mercier, La Mer, Kat Von D, the list goes on).

It truly blurs and softens all my lines and pores, and my makeup always looks flawless. This powder works wonders and is literally magic in a jar!

  • Powered by Blur Effect Technology™ to soften pores + fine lines, like a photo filter for your face.
  • Silky, ultra-refined powder blurs, perfects and sets makeup for long-lasting wear without adding weight or texture to the skin.
  • Invisible powder absorbs oil + shine to reveal a matte, airbrushed finish that is perfect for all skin tones without any flashback.
  • Formula is infused with a luxurious blend of hydrating ingredients to soothe and hydrate your skin so it never looks cakey.
  • The innovative mesh sifter and separator are mess-free and always dispenses the perfect amount of powder.

They also released a brush with this launch that I absolutely love as well. Filtered Effects All-Over Face Brush. It features Smart-Sweep Vegan Fibers, it is Vegan & Cruelty-Free and it is SO soft, large & lush!

My favourite way to use this powder is I take a damp beauty sponge and dip it into the powder, then I then press it into my areas of concern, the spots where my pores stand out the most. I then take the brush and sweep the setting powder all over my face and neck. I cannot tell you how well this powder works, and how well this technique works with the powder to cancel out my pores! If you have never used a damp beauty sponge to apply loose setting powder, I urge you to try this technique! It’s literally a game-changer!!!

I also want to talk about the design of the jar itself.

I love that this jar has a mesh sifter with a separator. This powder is completely mess-free which is very rare for a loose powder. Which also makes it really easy to travel with. Once I was down to the very last bit of powder I removed the sifter and separator as you can see in the photos above. I was definitely not going to waste any of this precious powder!!

See photos below, sorry that they are screenshots from my Instagram Stories, I didnt take photos with the cap off when it was clean and new and I had to show you the unique design. You can also watch my stories, I have them all saved under my Thrive Highlights!

I am praying that Karissa makes this into a pressed formula so that I can have this in my bag at all times! This is truly a very unique powder, and I couldn’t recommend it more. I would have to say that this is one of my absolute favourites from the brand, and hands down my favourite loose setting powder that I have used!!!

I hope you guys found this review to be helpful! Is this on your wishlist?? Let me know down below!
